How to pick a diode laser

Optical power decides what you can cut, not how well you can engrave. A 10W module engraves the same wood and leather as a 20W one; the difference is whether 6 mm plywood goes through in one pass or three. Bed size decides the largest single piece, but most sellers make many small things, so 400 × 400 mm is plenty for a long time.
